I bought the WR400F in the year 1999. One year before the new millenium. And I still don't know if Yamaha was 1 year ahead or our chronology 1 year too late. But this new YZ400F or in my case the WR400F certainly had to be from a new era! I was in Corsica for a week, I drove a 3 hour enduro cup and I was training on moto-cross tracks... Well, what can I say, everything is just how it should be! Of course it is not really comfortable to drive a few hundred kilometers on a highway and yes the WR does not have the 55 arm-streching horse power of the YZ. But show me a non-licence driver on a cross track that can use the full power of a WR. And if there is one, just change the camshaft timing a little bit and you get a lot more mid rev power. Quite often you try something you didn't expect to work and then it just works out fine without a problem and you think, well that wouldn't have worked with my old TT or even LC4 Sixdays! So that's what I mean by saying it's just perfect! At least it is for me anyway...
